Common Questions

Why should you landscape?

A house and its landscaping should be harmonious with each other. Achieving such harmony is sometimes possible intuitively; but if you're more serious about complementing your house with your landscaping, you really need to take matters to the next level, Landscape Design. Landscape Design can be an art form.

A properly planned landscape adds 10-15% to the value of the property. Moreover, a sustainable landscape will help save heating and cooling costs, conserve water, reduce pollution, reduce energy consumption, control erosion, dampen surrounding noises, screen unsightly on and off property views, deter nuisance animals, and helps to improve the enjoyment of your property.

Why should you use a designer?

A designer is trained to identify both constraints and opportunities on your property. By getting to know the homeowner and the land, a design is developed that best joins the goals of the owner to the capabilities of the property. The experienced Landscape Designer places objects into the landscape that have unity, harmony, interest, balance, and proper proportions.

Additionally, a designer can work with budgets so that the homeowner is not blindsided by sticker shock. The design process is the most inexpensive part of the landscape. By thinking it through, a landscape can be implemented correctly the first time, saving the homeowner money and headaches.

When should you utilize a designer?

A designer is trained to see the entire picture, by enlisting their help early in the project, a Landscape Designer often can help save the client time and money.

Planning and design can happen anytime during the year. Spring is a common time for thinking about changes to your property. As such, it is also the busiest time for designers and contractors. So, planning during the off-season can be very advantageous for the homeowner. The off-season allows time to gather multiple quotes for the same project, rewarding the job to the contractor that the homeowner has the most confidence in.

Any size project can utilize the advice of a Landscape Designer. Whether it is locating a swimming pool, planting the right tree in the right location, or redoing your entire property, a Landscape Designer will give sound, educated advice.

What if I only have a couple of questions?

Groves Design Studio has a consultation option for a client that either has a couple of questions or wants to talk more in-depth about the options for their property. The consultation is held on the client’s property and lasts anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours, depending on the amount of questions. Sometimes sketches and plant lists are provided, if needed.
